Georgia Dalzell (b.2001) is a Cumbrian artist based in London.

Georgia’s paintings combine intimacy and distance. Through working with filmic references, photographs and everyday encounters, she configures landscapes that appear almost known, yet never fully resolve. Perspectives are typical of the spaces between camera and scene. Bare trees, quiet roads, and untended paths recur as motifs. Subtle traces of human presence heighten awareness, creating dynamic constraints that situate the viewer as witness to something dormant yet charged. Built on a charcoal and oil ground, paintings develop through layered composition. Textured surfaces, fabricated with chalk, marble dust and glazes, introduce a stifling calmness where density and stillness sit in quiet tension.  These landscapes draw on lived encounters. Where some may find their darker corners unsettling, others may find a paradoxical comfort in their familiarity.
